San Diego

We are back from San Diego!! We had SUCH a great time! Of course I even took pictures at the airport and on the airplane....

Friday we ate lunch at In-N-Out after checking into the hotel...it's a burger place that we don't have here. Campbell and I had never been, but Matt had been on work trips before. Anyways, I wasn't that impressed, but the lady at the hotel said if I had never been that I had to try it.

Friday afternoon/evening we went to checkout the beach. Campbell LOVED the beach! I'm not sure which part was her favorite....chasing seagulls or standing in the waves....she screamed with excitement at both! She was mad when we took her to the car to leave.

Friday night we went to Old Town to eat at a place recommended by Diane called La Pinata....it was excellent!! I had shrimp enchiladas and Matt had fajitas...both were very good! There was also a mariachi band that played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for Campbell....she sang with them....so sweet. Then we walked around Old Town and stopped for ice cream.

Saturday we got up to be at the zoo when it opened. We took a bus tour of the zoo right away just to get an overall idea of the layout and the different exhibits. It was a good idea if you've never been, but it was hard for Campbell to see from the bus most of the time. We were able to see things much better once we were walking around. We stayed at the zoo until close to closing time, so we were definitely exhausted!

Saturday night we were oh so daring to venture out to try something that everyone MUST do when visiting San Diego.....we went to eat dinner at the Cheesecake Factory....I know it's sad. We actually really like the Cheesecake Factory, and Matt was craving it that night. We had discussed going to the Fish Market, as suggested by Lolly, but then in the lobby Matt asked for directions to the nearest Cheesecake Factory....so we had a last minute change of plans guided by Matt's craving. Campbell was dead tired, but she acted her normal happy self so we took the risk to venture out. At this point it was 7:30 in San Diego....9:30 "Campbell time". Anyways, we didn't even get finished munching on bread before she threw up.....I felt so bad for her, but so embarrassed for anyone to see. Keep in mind, they don't even have a kids menu at the Cheesecake Factory, so I'm sure they were thrilled to have a small child throwing up in front of their customers! We decided to get our food to-go, but before I could pack up and get her to the car, she threw up two more times. Poor thing! Here are some pictures of the short time that we were out that evening.

She was eyeing the different cheesecakes while we waited for our table.
She crashed when we got back to the room, and was back to her normal self the next morning. We still aren't sure what made her get sick.

Sunday we had reservations for Breakfast with Elmo when Sea World opened. Campbell was excited about the characters, but she wasn't real thrilled to be up close and personal with them. Once they would back away so she had more space she was dancing, pointing at all of them and talking about them. It was a buffet breakfast. The food was OK, but the characters made it worth it for the kids!

We took in all the shows and exhibits during the day at Sea World. We closed down the park there too!

We also had reservations for a late lunch....Dining with Shamu. This was a buffet also, but you were seated at your reserved table and you had a waiter to bring you drinks. I would HIGHLY reccommend this to anyone!! The food was pretty good, and the entertainment was awesome! We were seated just 5-6 feet away from the tank where they had trainers explaining how they train the killer whales and showing us their different tricks. There weren't very many people, so it was easy for anyone to ask questions for the trainers too. It was great! It was pretty amazing how close we were!!

I actually took lots more pictures than I could post, so I'll try to post a link to my Kodak album later this week. I'm working on titles and captions for the pictures now.

Missy, what a wonderful vacation. The pictures and the posts are great! I felt like I was on the trip with you, and in the end, I was pretty worn out too! Campbell looks like she had a great time with Mom and Day. I see more awesome scrapbook pages!!

I love this post...too cute! You guys definitely did a trip like the Panno's like to...go, go, go...see everything and rest when you get home! That is our motto. Tell Campbell when she is ready to try Disney, I now know that she can hang with the Panno's!! :o) We did the Sea World dining thing when we went in San Antonio and it was great! Glad you liked it, too!

What a FUN trip!! Love the play by play with the pictures too - you picked some really good ones. Campbell is so darn cute - I mean seriously...my favorite picture was the one where she is hugging Matt's neck (you can only see the back of his head). It is almost like you can hear her saying "oh thank you daddy and mommy for taking me on this fun trip - I love you SO much! Or something like that :)

What a fun trip! I wish we were there (definetly better than being an our apartment with no power). I love her in the red jogging suit. she looked so cute with her hat on.

I had a BLAST enjoying the highlights of your vacation!
How incredible that the three of you got away like that! AWESOME memories you are making as a family! And can I tell you I was THRILLED to see Campbell in her new "walk on the wildside" shorts at the zoo! How perfect?! Can't wait to see the rest of the pics in your album! I am tired just from reading your post...I can't imagine living it :-) !!

Sounds and looks like ya'll had a great time. I had my first In and Out Burger in San Diego and was not impressed at all.

Ya'll broke one of our big rules when going out of town. As tempting as it is, we don't ever eat anywhere that we could eat at home. I'll let you off this time, because Cheesecake Factory is hard to resist.

Did you get a chance to check out LaJolla?
